Optical Publishing, Inc. and IBM Ink Co-Op Marketing Agreement for CD-ROM Publishing Software

In October Optical Publishing, Inc. (OPI) and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) announced a joint marketing agreement for OPI's library of high-performance CD-ROM software products. This agreement is significant because IBM's mainframe customers can now get the software and services they need to turn their data centers into CD-ROM publishing sites.

Under the joint marketing agreement, called the Cooperative Software Program (CSP), IBM marketing representatives can sell all four products in OPI's Optical Library Series in the United States. For OPI, which is also an IBM business partner, the agreement means that it is now the exclusive provider of comprehensive IBM mainframe-based CD-ROM solutions for the System 370, System 390 and ES/9000 series.

"For the CD-ROM industry, this announcement represents the beginning of a partnership that will offer the most complete and powerful CD-ROM solutions available today," said Nigel Ferrey, president and CEO of OPI. "We're confident that the combination of OPI's marketing strengths in the mainframe market will further add to the explosive growth of CD-ROM applications in American and international businesses."
