STAR, the multi-user text management and information retrieval system produced by Cuadra Associates is now available on computer systems running either the SCO or AT&T versions of UNIX V.

According to Dr. Carlos A. Cuadra, president of Cuadra Associates, the STAR software, which has until now been available only on Sun Microsystems platforms under SunOS and Alpha Microsystems platforms under AMOS, will now run on appropriately configured 386/486/586 systems of such major manufacturers as AST, Compaq, DEC, Dell, Epson, Hewlett Packard, IBM, NCR, NEC, Olivetti, Siemens-Nixdorf, Toshiba, Unisys, Wang, Wyse and Zenith.

"The first user of a 486-based STAR system will be the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy," says Cuadra. "Its Maritime Technical Information Facility has been using STAR since 1985. The Academy now plans to add an AT&T 486 system to its computer center to provide online access to the library catalog from 286 and 386 PCs in each of its 800 dormitory rooms." Cuadra added, "The U.S. Office of Smoking and Health plans to install STAR on a DEC PowerMate 386/33E in its new offices in Atlanta. …
