Meridian Data, Inc. has introduced two new hardware configurations of th CD Net line of high performance information distribution systems. The new systems are designed to support personal computer local area network access to multiple CD-ROMs. Also introduced is a new version of the CD Net Software.

Supporting access up to 18,046 MB (18 GB) of CD-ROM-based information in an integrated hardware and software system, the CD Net Model 428 is designed to meet the requirements of enterprise-wide information networks. The product includes a 486, 33MHz CPU, up to 28 CD-ROM drives and up to sixteen megabytes of RAM in a one- or two-tower, air filtered cabinet. In addition, a 33MHz 386 CPU enhances the performance of the popular Model 314, 14-drive system which features up to 9,023 MB of online information. The CD Net Models 428 and 314 support true, multitasking, simultaneous access to all drives on the network.

Meridian is also introducing a major upgrade of the CD Net software which is available on both the Models 428 and 314/33, existing Models 314/20 and 100NC and as a stand-alone product, CD Net Software. …
