City Holding Co., which owns the $2.2 billion-asset City National Bank of West Virginia in Charleston, has hired John De-Rito as its executive vice president of commercial banking.

He succeeded John Loeber, who will remain City Holding's chief credit officer until he retires this year.

Mr. DeRito was the credit officer for central West Virginia at BB&T Corp. Before that he had been the credit officer and a senior vice president at One Valley Bank, which BB&T bought in 2000.

He has 20 years of commercial banking experience.

City Holding has also hired John Long as a senior vice president of its mortgage lending division.

Mr. Lang was a senior vice president of home lending at United Bank Inc., a Parkersburg, W.Va., unit of United Bankshares Inc. in Charleston.


Bremer Bank of St. Paul has hired Chuck Meier as its resident real estate manager for St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Mr. Meier, who has also been named a senior vice president at the Bremer Financial Corp. unit, was a branch manager at Countrywide Home Loans Inc.


Bank of Escondido, a $36 million-asset California unit of Capitol Bancorp Ltd. of Lansing, Mich., has named Dr. Joan Meyer to its board.

Dr. Meyer is a podiatrist with her own practice in Escondido.

Borel Private Bank and Trust Co. a San Mateo, Calif., unit of Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc., has named Sherie Dodsworth its chairman.

Ms. Dodsworth has been a member of the $604 million-asset Borel's board since 1999. …
