In mid-April Sybil Walker Barnes, the editor of Policy & Practice, left APHSA after six years to take a wonderful new job at the American Institute of Architects. All of us at APHSA wish her the very best and extend our great appreciation for the leadership and creativity she provided for Policy & Practice. This issue marks a transition, with my serving as interim editor while we actively recruit for a new editor.

The general theme of this issue is professional reflections. As APHSA prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary at a very special national Spring Meeting on March 20-23, 2005, we have invited three APHSA members to share their perspectives and views with you. We start off with Bonny O'Neil's "Reflections on the Food Stamp Program." Recently retired after more than 35 years with the Food and Nutrition Service, Bonnie offers an expansive national view of the past 40 years of development and evolution of one of our most important "safety net" human service programs.
