STN Adds COPPERDATA and NEI Files

Article excerpt

Beginning this month, the COPPERDATA file will be available through the Materials Property Data (MPD) Network on STN International. COPPERDATA, which is the online version of the CDA Standards Handbook produced by the Copper Development Association in New York, contains physical and mechanical property data for 166 wrought and 95 cast U.S. copper alloys. In addition, the Nordic Energy Index (NEI) file is now available exclusively on STN. The file, produced by the Secretariat for the Nordic Energy Information Libraries, is a bibliographic database of information on ongoing and recently completed energy research and development projects in the Scandinavian countries.

Along with physical and mechanical property data, COPPERDATA includes common names for the alloys, typical uses, suppliers, and fabrication practices. Cross-references to the specifications issued by U.S. national standards organizations, as well as UNS (Unified Numbering System) number and a CAS Registry number are also present in each record.

COPPERDATA joins a family of metals files on MPD Network that includes two aluminum files, AAASD and ALFRAC; two steel files, MARTUF and STEELTUF; a file a metallic aerospace materials, MH5; and a ferrous and nonferrous alloys file, MDF.

MPD Network is an integrated numeric information service on the properties of engineering materials. An easy-to-use menu interface and an online thesaurus help searchers locate specific materials and the detailed properties that characterize those materials. …
