Why did you get into marketing? All I had when I left university was a degree in geography. It was this or being a weatherman.

What would be your dream job if you could choose anything? Testing ski gear in winter and mountain bikes in the summer.

What is your favourite campaign? The Yorkshireman in me admires the way Ronseal makes such effective TV ads with a pounds 5000 production budget.

What's your favourite cliche? 'It's not over till the fat lady sings.' Especially when said by a fat lady.

What's the strangest job you've ever done? It's a close call between delivering shock absorbers in Hull and working as a ceramic technician in Val d'Isere.

What was your father's best advice? Never eat yellow snow.

Who do you admire the most? Lance Armstrong. He overcame cancer, developed a technique for cycling in the mountains that no one has been able to match, and has just become the only person to win the Tour de France six times in a row. …
