Aegis Adding to Its New Digital Network: British Holding Company Continues Acquisition Spree Following Launch of Isobar

NEW YORK Alter completing four digital marketing acquisitions in as many months, Aegis Group is nearing a fifth in Korea and eyeing others in the U.S. and abroad, a company principal told Adweek last week.

The recent investments are a manifestation of the British holding company's prediction that 50 percent of media will he consumed digitally by 2007 and 80 percent by 2020.

To house its interactive assets, Aegis in July created a mini holding company of sorts, called Isobar. Globally, the entity is led by 12-year Aegis veteran Nigel Morris, and in the U.S. by Carat Interactive president Sarah Fay.

The umbrella brand--made up of 560 people in 35 offices--has billings in excess of $500 million and is expected to produce revenue of about $100 million this year from clients such as Adidas and Pfizer, according to Morris.

Its growth, according to company officials, will be organic and acquisitive in nature. In June, Aegis bought Takezo in France and a 51 percent stake in Medialand in the Netherlands; in July, the company picked up One Digital in Australia and World Wide Web Integrated Net Solutions in the Asia-Pacific market.

"We're trying to set up a full-service digital marketing [company] to offer communications solutions across all the different digital platforms," said the London-based Morris, who holds the title of president worldwide of Isobar.

Isobar is comprised of two networks, an arrangement that allows for conflict management and provides a clear interactive partner to Aegis' general media brands. …
