The Yeo Valley building isn't a typical food company headquarters, is it?

The building is a former hotel and restaurant complex that has been refurbished and now includes a state-of-the-art conference centre.

The company is family-owned and the factory and farms are on our doorstep. Looking out the window is like being in a plane: you can see all our organic fields and the lake. Some big corporate brands would pay a fortune to get the atmosphere we've developed here.

So you're in the sticks, then?

Yes, we are quite a long way from any big cities. There's Bristol to the north, and most people commute for about an hour from locations such as Swindon, Gloucester and Taunton.

How many marketers are there at the company?

Six. This may not seem many, but the department has grown rapidly since 2000, when there were just two. And it is still expanding.

Organic food still has a bit of a hippy image, don't you think?

The organic nature of our product really appeals to consumers - they send about 400 letters and emails telling us so every month.

As a company, Yeo Valley is passionate about promoting sustainability in British farming. But we shy away from the whole tree-hugger image - it's just not us.
