Mead Data Central's Nexis service has added the full texts of three major Southern U.S. newspapers to its online files, and has also expanded its online coverage of European publications.

The Atlanta Journal and Constitution, the two-in-one newspapers, were winners of a 1988 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. The a.m. cycle Constitution and the p.m. cycle Journal are grouped within one Nexis file, ATLJRL, and have issues online dating back to May 1, 1991. Both papers are jointly owned by Cox Enterprises Inc.

The Houston Chronicle is Nexis' file HCHRN. Texas' largest daily newspaper, the Chronicle has issues available online from June 1, 1991 to the present.

Nexis has also debuted its first Italian-language publication and more German and Eastern Europe sources.

Il Sole 24 Ore is Italy's leading financial daily with a worldwide circulation of more than 350,000. It is available on Nexis (file ILSOLE) from January 1991. The file includes subject indexing and numerous features popular with readers of the paper, including L'Esperto Risponde (Answers to Readers' Letters), Informatica (Computers), and Mercati e Finanza (Finance and Markets).

Two new Europe Information Service newsletters, Tech Europe and European Social Policy, are the first EIS publications accessible in Europe on the Nexis service. Other EIS publications already online in the United States are expected to be available in Europe later this year.

Tech Europe, a monthly title, provides in-depth studies of the European Community's information technology activities, while the European Social Policy newsletter covers EC labor and social issues, such as overtime and minimum wage. …
