HMDA Becomes a Musical Act

Article excerpt

No doubt compliance officers have immersed themselves with new HMDA rules and regulations. If they haven't, maybe music will help.

Leonard Ryan, the president of QuestSoft, has written and recorded "HMDA," roughly to the tune of the Village People's 1978 hit "YMCA." It's unlikely that Mr. Ryan's song will reach No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100, but those calling QuestSoft's phone number might be lucky enough to listen to it while on hold.

A sampling of the lyrics:

"Lender, civil groups are in sight

I said Lender, regulators spell fright

I said Lender, add the lawyers and it's all enough to keep you up nights.

Banker, with no staffing to spare

I said Banker, with expanding gray hair

Banker, it's just time that you change from those things that you did last year.
