FOR BUSINESS: I usually stay in the big monster hotels for work, but last year the Dubai Rotary Club organised a charity sale in Dubai, and put us up at the Burj Al Arab hotel. It's everything they say it is, a world of luxurious living where we were treated like royalty. Every floor has its own butler and mine spent about 15 minutes showing me around my room. It contained a work area with laptop, a large dining area and separate living area, and floor-to-ceiling windows. I was on the 23rd floor and had views of the new Palm Island development. At the time, the sand was in place and the building was about to start. The hotel has some great restaurants, including one under the sea. It also has the Sky Bar at the top, which is a great place to sit at night and enjoy the views.

Christie's was there to auction off 20 fibreglass camels, like the cows that appeared in New York. The charity auction raised dollars 1.4 million, so we managed to earn our keep!
