No change at the top of the Adwatch chart this week but further down many advertisers take advantage of summer airtime bargains, thus allowing many brands access to television. The Halifax is this week's highest new entrant with new executions in its "Busby Berkeley" derived advertising campaign. You can almost hear the bride "tell them the Halifax is about people". These latest commercials are recalled by 71% of our sample.

Milk keeps its bottle with more advertising behind milk deliveries. This is a campaign which is loosely based strategically, if not executionally, on work done for Unigate in the mid to late 70s. Remember Ernie and the Humphries?

Meanwhile, the years have slipped away while the milk producers and retailers decide on how to market their product. Is it too late? The milk advertising is recalled by 57% of our sample.

Ford, which is in something of a product vacuum, returns with the revamped XR2i. This model has a new engine, the question is will its sales be sufficient to keep Ford in its precariously-held number one slot in the UK?
