The IREM Education Conference in Nashville attracted more than 600 members and featured more than 40 education sessions, including hands-on learning labs, panels and discussion groups. The conference's two keynote speakers, Jeff Thredgold and Dr. Jeff Salz, provided insights on the economy and shared motivational messages, respectively. Participants were able to network with colleagues at both the Greater Nashville Chapter No. 71-sponsored event at the Wildhorse Saloon and at the closing inaugural gala that featured musical entertainment by The Temptations.

Governing Council

New Governing Councillors for the 2005-2007 term were elected and 2005 presidential appointments to IREM committees and boards were confirmed.

The Governing Council adopted the 2005 budget with revenues of $10,072,803 and a net positive bottom line of $22,411. The 2005 budget includes programs to support the goal of 10-percent membership growth by 2006 and new programs to reach out to specialty areas within the real estate management industry and to create a real estate management career pathway for high school and college students.

In response to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act's accounting reforms for public corporations, a new Audit Committee was established to oversee IREM's internal accounting controls, review the annual audit and meet with the auditors to discuss results.
