As the NRPA Congress wraps up another successful year, the Student Branch is setting its sights on raising student membership, with hopes that those students will carry their memberships over as professionals in the field for years to come.

The branch is also planning for our next meeting together at the National Legislative and Policy Forum. This is an extremely exciting time for students to come together with board members and professionals alike. One of the highlights of the year is to educate lawmakers on Capitol Hill about pressing issues the industry is facing.

Fortunately, the members the Citizen Board have been extremely helpful in preparing the students for the process. In advance, they seek students interested in the process, and match them up with other NRPA representatives from their state. This helps the student to have a role model at his or her side while entering the hustle and bustle of Capitol Hill. Upon arrival at the conference, students are educated on these pressing issues so they can understand the controversy or problem at hand.
