Tom Hogan, president of Learned Information, Inc. of Medford, NJ has announced the acquisition of the Directory of Information Management Software for Libraries, Information Centers, Record Centers from Pacific Information of Felton, CA. Learned Information, Inc., founded in 1979, is a prominent publisher of books, journals, proceedings, and newspapers about information and library science and technology. The company is probably best known as the publisher of Information Today and as the organizer of the combined National Online Meeting and Integrated Online Library Systems (IOLS) Conference.

Published biannually since 1983, the directory, retitled the Directory of Library Automation Software, Systems, and Services, is recognized as the primary reference source for software packages used in automating libraries. This entire, newly expanded 1993 edition provides detailed descriptions of about 250 currently available microcomputer, minicomputer, and mainframe software packages and services.

Analysis for each software package includes the following: hardware/systems requirements; applications; updating/reporting modes; search logic; record structures; availability; documentation; training; installation sites; costs; name of vendors; comments by vendors; and who to contact for additional information. …
