The Institute for Scientific Information has released new search and retrieval software for its Current Contents microcomputer diskette product line. This release will be shipped to customers free of charge. The Version 3.0 software will now be available for all editions of Current Contents on Diskette and Current Contents on Diskette with Abstracts.

"During the past two years we have received suggestions from our customers for improving the product line. These suggestions, along with the tests conducted in our new software usability laboratory, are the driving force behind this upgrade," said Mike Tansey, Senior Vice-President, Product Development & Business Technology.

With these updates, users can now run a search profile against six issues at one time. In addition, new data compression routines will reduce the amount of hard disk space required and will significantly speed up the loading of issues.

Notes Tansey, "Novice users will enjoy the expanded online, context-sensitive help system and the addition of screen labels. The more experienced users will like the option of transferring multiple search terms from the dictionaries to their search statements. Left-hand and internal truncation will be available as a feature in all editions. …
