RLG to Offer Russian Databases

John Haeger, vice president of the Research Libraries Group (RLG), and Vladimir Vinogradov, director of INION (the Institute of Scientific Information in the Social Sciences, which is part of the Russian Academy of Sciences), have signed an agreement to make all INION databases available through RLG's citations and document-delivery service, CitaDel, for a period of three years, beginning as soon as the necessary technical arrangements can be made. This is the first time North American researchers will have access to these resources on a major bibliographic network.

"Our agreement with INION culminates several years of discussion about ways to further our respective missions and improve access to scholarly information worldwide," said Haeger. "RLG is honored by its partnership with INION."

INION is responsible for abstracting and indexing humanities and social science periodicals published in what is now the Commonwealth of Independent States and other nations in Eastern Europe; it is one of the world's largest producers of bibliographic information. …
