U.S. Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) and retired Scott Health & Safety executive John D. McStravick were the recipients of the International Safety Equipment Association's (ISEA's) two top awards for 2004.

Terry received the Legislative Leadership Award recognizing his outstanding leadership in enhancing worker safety and health. McStravick, who retired in July as vice president of Tyco Breathing Systems (Scott is part of Tyco), received the Robert B. Hurley Distinguished Service Award for his lifetime of positive contributions to worker safety.

Terry is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he serves on the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protections Subcommittee; the Environment and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee, and the Telecommunications and Internet Subcommittee. The award honors Terry specifically for:

* Leading an effort to increase funds for research and certification programs for first-responder respiratory protection.

* Making certain that the Department of Homeland Security includes safety equipment manufacturers when discussing new standards for first-responder protective equipment.

* The bipartisan spirit in which he has pursued these goals. …
