Lycos has announced a "recommitment and reinvestment" in search. Adam Soroca, general manager of search services for Lycos, Inc., said: "We recently launched a new search-centric home page that cleanly presents all of our search products including Web, People, Yellow Pages, Shopping, Multimedia, News, and Discussion Search. We also reintroduced Lycos the dog and the familiar 'Go Got It' slogan." The company also announced it has selected Ask Jeeves' algorithmic search technology to power search on Lycos.com.

Lycos is approaching its 10-year anniversary and launched this aggressive campaign to regain interest in its search brand. It recently introduced Lycos Dating Search, a search engine that lets users browse results from multiple online dating companies. With consumer-oriented initiatives such as these, Lycos may maintain some searchers' loyalties, but it will still have an uphill battle for users' eyeballs against giants including Google, Yahoo!, MSN, and AOL.
