Jeffrey M. (Jeff) Johnson has been appointed president, publisher, and CEO of the Los Angeles Times, effective June 1. Johnson was named executive vice president and general manager in February, and before that served as senior VP/GM since May 2000. From 1998 to 2000, Johnson was executive VP, GM, and CEO of Landoll, Inc., a former Tribune Education company and publisher of educational materials and books. He peviously served as VP and director of operations at the Orlando Sentinel, and held various positions in operations at the Chicago Tribune.

Johnson was named executive VP/GM in February; he had served as senior VP/GM since May 2000. He then joined the staff of the Chicago Tribune, where he served in various positions in operations between 1986 and 1992. In 1992, Johnson was co-winner of the Tribune Management Award for developing and implementing new pre-print zoning configurations for the Tribune. From 1992 to 1998, he served as vice president and director/operations at the Orlando Sentinel. …
