It is fitting that we announce the new co-editors of Teacher Librarian in the annual Best of the Best issue because I believe we have found the best of the best. The new editors are Dr. David Loertscher, a professor at the School of Library and Information Science at San Jose State University, San Jose, CA and Esther Rosenfeld, the district-wide Coordinator of Library and Learning Resources for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).

Jointly and separately, Dave and Esther bring a level of experience, knowledge, and insight that we believe simply cannot be matched. While they share certain beliefs and philosophies, each offers a unique perspective based on unique experiences. The fact that Dave is from the United States and Esther is from Canada is deliberate. We are committed to serving readers and colleagues on both sides of the border. Indeed, we think we serve readers and colleagues throughout the world who are concerned with teacher librarians.

David Loertscher is one of the most respected scholars in our field. As a member of the faculty at the School of Library and Information Science at San Jose State University and director of its School Media Program, David has influenced a generation of professionals directly/ through the classroom. He served as president of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL, 1995-1996), during the development and writing of the standards and the development of School Library Media Research (the online journal) and Knowledge Quest (the practitioner journal of AASL). …
