Do you have to be an outdoors person to work for The North Face? No, but those who have joined the team with no interest have suddenly contracted the outdoors bug.

Can you describe the marketing team in three words? Passionate, enthusiastic and mad.

Does the marketing team take part in the many global expeditions shown on your website?

Yes - our marketing manager, Keith Byrne, has just come back from a 580km race in South Africa.

Do you get to meet the athletes sponsored by The North Face?

There is plenty of opportunity to meet the athlete team at various international events.

How much of the marketing team's work goes into educating people about their environment?

We work with various associations to improve and sustain natural outdoor resources. We are currently financing the rebuilding of the main footpath up to the north face of Ben Nevis in Scotland and the building of a mountain bike trail in Grizedale Forest in The Lake District.

What is the main marketing challenge you face?

The North Face has been producing technical clothing and equipment since 1968. We have a large con-sumer following in this area. As the outdoors has become more popular within the lifestyle arena, this new type of consumer has adopted The North Face as the must-have product. …
