Citizens and Hanover Insurance Cos. of Worcester, Mass., has hired John Robinson as its Midwest regional president.

Mr. Robinson was the president and chief executive officer of Montgomery Insurance Co., a Sandy Spring, Md., unit of Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. of Boston.

Before that he had worked at two other Liberty Mutual subsidiaries: as the president and CEO of GoAmerica Auto Insurance of Indianapolis and, earlier, as a regional vice president for Indiana Insurance Co. of Loveland, Ohio.


JPMorgan Chase Bank of New York has made Kevin Watters its chief executive officer of small-business banking.

He succeeded Joseph Scharfenberger, a 30-year veteran of the company, who plans to retire this year.

Mr. Watters, 36, had led the JPMorgan Chase & Co. unit's Internet group. He joined the company last year, when it bought Bank One Corp., which he had joined in 1999.


Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., has promoted Andrew W. Stein to chief executive officer of banking operations in its central region.

Mr. Stein had been the company's president of banking operations in the Florida Panhandle. His new job puts him in charge of Alabama, as well.

He joined Regions in 1997, when it bought Florida First Bancorp Inc. of Panama City, Fla. Before that he had been Florida First's CEO for eight years.

As the central region CEO, he succeeded Samuel E. Upchurch Jr., who earlier had been made Regions' director of corporate and strategic initiatives. …
