NEW ENGLAND

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield has named William Noyes its managing director of institutional sales in its retirement services division for Connecticut, western Massachusetts, upstate New York, and Vermont.

Mr. Noyes was a national consultant practice leader for the division. He joined the insurer in 1996 from Cigna Corp., where he had worked in the retirement and investment services division.

MIDWEST

Fifth Third Bank of Cincinnati has promoted Michael Brost to chief financial officer of its Chicago operations.

In addition to overseeing financial strategy, monitoring, and reporting for the Chicago region, Mr. Brost will be in charge of financial planning and analysis for banking operations in Indianapolis; Evansville, Ind.; Lexington, Ky.; and St. Louis for the Fifth Third Bancorp unit.

He was the senior affiliate risk officer for Fifth Third Bank in Chicago. In nearly 30 years of banking and financial services experience he has also held senior executive jobs at Bank One, now a part of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and First Wisconsin National Bank, now a part of U.S. Bank.

In his new job he will report to Terry Zink, Fifth Third's president and chief executive officer for Chicago.

ABN Amro Mortgage Group Inc. of Chicago has named Randy Conte its chief operations officer.

Mr. Conte was the corporate controller and an executive vice president at another ABN Amro Holding NV unit, LaSalle Bank Corp. …
