Wall Quits Granada for Meridian TV

Malcolm Wall, director of sales and marketing at Granada Television, is leaving to join Meridian Television, the new ITV licensee for the South and South-east from 1993. He takes over as deputy chief executive next week.

"I'll be concentrating on ad sales until the end of the year, working with sales director Jonathan Howlett, although I won't be directly involved in negotiations," says Wall. "It's all about money in my job. I'll help them focus on negotiations in this crucial sales period."

Wall will also concentrate on marketing and business development, exploring untapped revenue sources, both for Meridian and as part of the ITV network.

"Other top executives at Meridian are new to TV," says Wall, "so I'm the missing piece in the jigsaw because of my range of experience. Meridian is a prime example of the focused, lean broadcaster of the 90s; it's a great challenge."

He makes no secret of the fact that he was hoping for the chief executive position at Granada, and was disappointed when Charles Allen was brought in from the leisure division of the Granada group. …
