TSB First to Use Domino Effect

This week a little bit of advertising history is due to be made as TSB becomes the first client to see a press ad "phoned" direct onto the page of a national newspaper.

The historic event is due to take place in the Central London offices of the creative services company Domino this Thursday (October 22) at 4:00 pm.

The final artwork of the ad -- including small print registering its historic status -- will be displayed on an Apple Macintosh computer. A button will be pressed and -- if all things go according to plan -- the exact same artwork will appear, in its on-page form on another Mac at the Associated Newspapers' Kensington offices.

The whole process should take 72 seconds. The ad will appear in the Evening Standard the following day.

The process could bring in a new era of fast-response, low-cost press advertising which replaces the costs and unreliability of British Rail and motorcycle couriers with the a simple telephone call made through an ordinary business phone line. …
