It has been suggested that some people are born organized and others naturally disorganized. Whether we're born one way or the other, anyone can learn to be better organized if doing so is important enough to them. The following time management techniques can help you structure your day. They can give you more free time by allowing you to work faster. How you use the free time gained is up to you.

* Make a "to-do" list every day. Work on the important tasks early in the day, prior to when you really get busy.

* Try to handle each document you touch or each problem you work on only once. Don't procrastinate! Make a decision and act on it--but never guess.

* Use the telephone to collect outstanding invoices instead of writing a letter or sending a memo. It's faster and normally cheaper to use the phone when you consider the costs of dictating, typing, proofreading, and mailing.
