A New Look, but Still the Same Commitment

IT ALL STARTED WITH THE LIVING ROOM drapes. As my wife stood back to appraise the job I did hanging the drapes, I had an eerie sensation that something wasn't quite right.

"It's strange, isn't it, how the new drapes make the walls look so ... dingy," she said.

"Yeah, it's strange alright, but what can you do?" I replied, quickly gathering up my tools and trying to beat a hasty retreat from the room.

"But don't you think the walls could use a fresh coat of paint?" she asked. "It would really bring the room together."

I knew where this was going. The fresh coat of paint would no doubt make the carpet look worn. And after the inevitable carpet replacement, the hallway would need updating, then each of the rooms off the hallway would have to be spruced up, and on and on.

So now, several months later, our home has a fresh new look. It's the same place, of course--the rooms are still where they used to be--but it all has an updated appearance.

That's kind of what we went through here at University Business. We had already made some minor design changes over the last few months, like the "Online Exclusives" column in our Table of Contents page. But that only inspired us and Art Director Susan Rohall-Corbett to suggest some other, bigger changes to our pages. What you see before you is the result of that inspiration.

Changes like these are not made lightly, and much careful thought went into the redesign. We believe our news section, our contents pages, and our regular departments have a cleaner, more appealing design, with stronger graphic elements. …
