Chilton Takes Sole Charge at TVMM

Alan Chilnton has been appointed sole managing director of television sales house TVMM following Alan Bryson's decision to accept a redundancy package.

In addition to handling airtime for joint owners STV and HTV, TVMM also sells for Grampian, Westcountry and S4C. Bryson, previously joint managing director, came from the HTV side of the business, but increasingly STV people have allegedly creamed the top jobs at the sales house.

Chilton rejects the notion that STV is taking over TVMM: "We don't work for either STV or HTV; we all work for TVMM."

TVMM has undergone a metamorphosis in recent months, introducing ad new corporate identity and launching a strong advertising, PR and marketing campaign.

As part of this reshaping Bryson's departure had been anticipated for some time. "It is important for the future of TVMM that the company is under the control of a single managing director," says Charles Romaine, group chief executive of HTV and chairman of TVMM. …
