An axe

Since fuel like petrol doesn't work at all when temperatures are consistently below -50[degrees]C, an axe to supply firewood is essential. That said, it is possible to use petrol if you keep the canister in your sleeping bag all night.

A solid pair of boots

Our ski boots were Top Expedition by Crispi. In settlements we used The North Face Baltoro 400 boots. And while we were in our tents we used Russian volenki felt boots.

Down jacket

We used TNF 800 but I found the pockets too small. When it's extremely cold, your movements are slow and clumsy, so everything has to be bigger.

Down sleeping bag

We used TNF Inferno Endurance, their top of the line bag, but comfort temperature is only -40[degrees]C, so we brought a snowshoe also from TNF Both worked well enough together. In winter our sweat froze to our skin and it would take up to ten hours to thaw in the sack.
