Fifth Third Bank of Cincinnati has hired Bruce R. Hrovat as the director of its central operations division.

Mr. Hrovat was the senior vice president of the national teller process and operations department at Bank of America. Before that he had been a process and operations executive for customer service and support. He has 20 years of operations and financial management experience.

Fifth Third has also hired Thomas R. Quinn Jr. as the president and chief executive officer of its south Florida banking operations.

He succeeded Kevin Hale, who has retired.

Mr. Quinn was the president and regional manager of the upstate New York and Canadian retail banking operations for Citibank.

He spent 13 years with Citigroup Inc. and held various jobs the, including national sales manager for its Student Loan Corp. and regional manager for Citi's mortgage sales company.

Middle Atlantic

Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. of New York has hired Jean Manas as its vice chairman of mergers and acquisitions in the Americas and a managing director.

He will report to James Stynes, the Deutsche Bank AG unit's head of M&A in the Americas.

Mr. Manas was a managing director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and a co-head of M&A for its technology, media, and telecommunications group. Since joining Goldman Sachs in 1998 he had also held senior jobs in its financial institutions, mergers leadership, and technology investment banking groups.
