Fulcrum Technologies Inc. has introduced a suite of SQL-based tools that allows corporate information professionals to access text information and make it available throughout an organization for use as a strategic resource. Called Fulcrum Searchtools, the new product line represents Fulcrum's bid to seize a major share of the corporate information market.

Fulcrum SearchTools offer a means by which corporate developers, working within an open, client/server computing environment, can build text-retrieval applications for accessing large text applications. It will also give them a way to integrate text-intensive data into existing corporate information management, image or database systems. Fulcrum SearchTools combine the power of advanced search and retrieval technology with the industry standard SQL model for relational database management systems (RDBMS).

Fulcrum SearchTools feature a client/ server architecture and an API based on the SQL Access Group's Call Level Interface (CLI) standard. Designed to give users a common means to access information stored in a variety of different databases, the CLLI standard is being adopted by many leading relational database vendors and forms the basis of Microsoft's Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) product. …
