It's not easy to write "Welcome to 2006!" when it's still November. But we work several months ahead on this magazine, so the planning for all the new stuff in this January issue has been completed for some time already. Now I finally get to reveal everything to you.

I'm excited about two new sections that are debuting this month. First, I've lined up a new column called AccessibleIT. It's about ways to make technology more accessible, not only in the classic sense (for the disabled) but also in the overall sense of making products just plain better for everyone. Making software and hardware work for people who have physical and mental challenges has always been an important topic to me, and CIL has covered it in several themed issues over the years. But now it will be a part of every issue, which I'm just thrilled about. I urge you to read the introductory column by co-authors Lori Bell and Tom Peters to see what it's all about.

The second new section is a department called Tech Tips for Every Librarian. …
