Article excerpt

The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI)'s The Genuine Article (TGA) document delivery service is now available on OCLC's Firs(search. The document ordering module on FirstSearch offers searchers the ability to order full-text information online. An electronic order for The Genuine Article is now directly transmitted to ISI's corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. The Genuine Article service is available to all FirstSearch users throughout the United States and Canada.

The Genuine Article supplies articles from approximately 7,000 scholarly research journals from 1989 to the present. All of these TGA orders are fulfilled from ISI's on-site, closed-stack collection. An Extended Service is also available for coverage of an additional 3,500 publications, some dating back to the 1800s. The Genuine Article draws from ISI's multidisciplinary collection of the leading international journals from the fields of science, social sciences, and the arts and humanities.

The FirstSearch ordering module offers the customer the choice of several different delivery options from The Genuine Article: 30-minute and 24-hour Fax, standard postal service, and courier service. For those requesting postal or courier service, tear sheets - original pages taken directly from the source journal - are usually available. These tear sheets may prove essential for photographs and graphic representations.

"We are now able to provide FirstSearch users with the fast turnaround and reliability that The Genuine Article customers have come to expect," said David Kochalko, vice president, Corporate Business Development, at ISI. …
