Hooleon Offers Custom Keyboard Kit for Visually Impaired

America's challenge to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)'s specifications gets a boost with the release of Hooleon Corporation's "Custom Keyboard Kit for the Visually Impaired." The new product features high contrast, large print key top legends for a standard 101 -key style keyboard in combination with raised Braille characters. The combined Braille/printed key top legends are applied to durable labels that adhere directly to the top of the keyboard's keys.

The creation of the kit grew out of discussions with visually impaired users who expressed a need for large legends to help them find specific keys on the keyboard. The kit's customized key tops help visually impaired computer users to find all key locations either by sight or touch. "Because sign impairment often worsens over time, visually impaired users recommended that the raised Braille equivalents also be included," stated Will Schollaert, Hooleon's president and CEO.

The size, spacing, and height of the Braille dots in the Hooleon Custom Keyboard Kit for the Visually Impaired have been designed specifically to comply with the provisions outlined in the ADA. …
