Carolina National Corp. of Columbia, S.C., has hired Harry R. Brown as the chief financial officer of the company and its $165 million-asset Carolina National Bank and Trust Co.

For the last eight years Mr. Brown was a senior officer and the director of accounting systems and projects at NetBank Inc. in Alpharetta, Ga.

For six years before that he had been the CEO and the chief operating officer at Comsouth Bankshares Inc. of Columbia.

Still earlier he had been the senior staff auditor and the manager of general accounting and financial systems at South Carolina National Bank of Charleston.


Community Bank of the Bay of Oakland, Calif., has hired Thomas Mitchell to head its newly created commercial real estate lending program.

Mr. Mitchell, who has also been named a vice president at the $55 million-asset bank, was a commercial real estate vice president at KeyBank Real Estate Capital in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Before that he had been an assistant regional manager in Concord, Calif., for Manulife Financial Corp. and, earlier, a vice president of Riverbank Financial Group in San Francisco.

Bridge Bank of San Jose has made Emily Ruvalcaba the manager of its Bay Area corporate banking division and promoted her from senior to executive vice president.

Ms. Ruvalcaba, who joined the $537 million-asset unit of Bridge Capital Holdings four years ago, was the manager of its San Jose corporate banking group.

Earlier she had been the manager of the Small Business Administration loan department and a commercial loan group at San Jose National Bank, where she worked for 10 years. …
