CAB International and SilverPlatter Announce Marketing and Distribution Arrangements

CAB International (CABI), producer of a leading database covering agriculture, forestry, health, the environment and related topics (CAB ABSTRACTS), has announced a new CD-ROM marketing and distribution strategy involving a closer partnership with SilverPlatter Information, a market leader in CD-ROM publishing. Since entering the CD-ROM market in 1989, the CABI CD-ROM products have been used with SilverPlatter software and both parties have been involved in marketing and distribution.

In a joint announcement, SilverPlatter President Bela Hatvany and CABI Deputy Director General Jim Gilmore, describe a wide-ranging series of changes to CABI's CD-ROM product range and marketing and distribution arrangements, designed to improve customer service, simplify purchasing and give added-value to the products.

In response to customer demand, the following important changes are being introduced: as of 1994 all CABI titles will be updated quarterly instead of annually; prices will be quoted in dollars (except for U.K. customers) to help non-U.K. organizatons; prices of all CABI CD-ROM titles have been significantly lowered and the pricing strategy has been greatly simplified; and discounts have been introduced for multiple-title as well as multiple-copy purchases. …
