New York Campaign Joins Forces with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America

Governor Mario M. Cuomo has launched an aggressive public information campaign against the harmful use of alcohol and other drugs that draws on the talents and resources of the private sector to encourage and strengthen grassroots prevention efforts.

"Partners for a Drug-Free New York State will harness the communications skills of Madison Avenue, the leadership of corporate executives and the demonstrated grassroots strength of out statewide drug-abuse prevention network," Governor Cuomo said. "Together, government, business, parents, teachers and young people can rely on the media as a great tool for positive education. We can help provide our youth with the hope and drive that will bring successful futures."

The public service announcements (PSAs), targeted primarily at children aged seven to eleven, and their parents, were produced by Partnership for a Drug-Free America, using some of the nations leading advertising agencies. New York's toll-free Decade of the Child Hotline appears on the PSAas as a contact for parents to obtain information about the signs of alcohol or other drug problems and to provide referral to local treatment and prevention agencies. …
