WordPerfect Corporation, the leading seller of word processing software to the legal market, continues to improve intergration of legal research from commercial legal database services. West Publishing and Mead Data Central have joined a small group of third-party developers called Premier Developers for

WordPerfect. Westlaw's pilot software, Westmate 5.2 for Windows, can retrieve search results without ever leaving WordPerfect. Mead Data Central's LEXIS/NEXIS Access Marcros for Windows on its pilot software, LEXIS/NEXIS Research Software for Windows, integrate with WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows, as did the WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows. Under the new macros, serchers can enter LEXIS/NEXIS without leaving WordPerfect. Searchers can verify and retrieve cases and statutes for automatic incorporation and view them as WordPerfect documents. Westlaw/WordPerfect Intergration provides the same flexibility out of Westmate connections, putting Westmate on a WordPerfect button bar under Windows.

Jurisoft, a Mead division, links WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS and Jurisoft's Legal Toolbox software through a package called Jurisoft DirectConnect. Jurisoft's Toolbox includes serveral component softwares--CompareRite, which redlines differences between two versions of a document; Checklite, which verifies citations in a legal brief on LEXIS; FullAuthority which complies tables of authorities; and CiteRite II, which checks cites for proper Bluebook or California citation form. …
