The growing demand for high-density storage in the multimedia era has been met by TDK Electronics with its new MO-R128 rewritable magneto-optical disk, a 3.5-inch, high-capacity (128 MB) disk.

The increasing popularity of multimedia applications incorporating graphics, audio and text has led to the demand for disks with greater storage capacity. With its 128 MB capacity, the MO-R128 disk boasts more than 100 times the data storage of conventional 3.5-inch floppy disks.

Designed for increased durability and reliability the MO-R128 is a high-density disk, composed of a plastic resin material with a high degree of transparency and purity. The TDK MO-R128 disk realizes a mechanical value of below 3.0 Omrads. Other precision characteristics far exceed ISO certification levels.

The high-reliability recording layer of the MO-R128 disk is designed to achieve a low error rate in a variety of drive units. Because rotation speeds in different disk drives vary, the recording power requirements also change. To ensure accurate reading and writing operations in a variety of drive units, the recording layer has been designed to provide a sufficient margin of recording power, even at the lower power levels of some drive units.
