Our theme for this volume is "Technology and You." That covers a lot of ground and gives us the opportunity to explore the relationships we have with the technology that we use to make our lives more comfortable. Look around where you sit as you read this. How much technology surrounds you? How much technology are you using? How much of this technology have you taken for granted? How often do you rely on technology during your daily routine, and how different would things be without the existence of the technologies you use?

We plan to explore these questions and more in this and the coming issues. First we'll look at Technology and You, with a focus on Fun. Our contributors have written very interesting articles and thoughtful activities that open up the world of FUN and how technology can assist us in our pursuit of pleasure during leisure time. Gary Benenson's suggested activity puts to use an easily constructed kinetic toy to reinforce the design process and simple pleasure of making something that is intriguing to play with. This issue's Web Links contributions by Christine Nelson provide a wonderful series of useful activities that can be taken from the 'net or that can be used online. Make sure you visit the sites she's selected for us. The Quick Activity, by Paul DeRita, will challenge your classes to design and test a playground ride. Imagine what your students will come up with! Doug Walrath has uncovered many interesting resources for your classrooms, including free kits from SAE! …
