Bacardi Breezers are to receive the full launch treatment after successful sales trials in the North-east.

Westbay Distributors said the product -- a blend of Bacardi rum, fruit juices and sparkling water with an ABV of 5% -- had exceeded all targets set for the trials, conducted over eight months.

Breezers are set for their first appearance on television later in the spring in a campaign set to last through the summer.

Westbay said the intention is to draw customers from the premium lager and cider sectors and Breezers will be sold in 350ml bottles at |pounds~1.69 a time.

Meanwhile Bacardi is set to launch a duty-free promotion offering ferry and airline customers free entry to Continental nightclubs.

The company is keeping the lid on details of the promotion until the official launch in two weeks.
