UMI Acquires the Information Store

UMI has acquired San Francisco-based The Information Store. The acquisition is designed to further strengthen UMI's document delivery capabilities, already anchored by its Article Clearinghouse service.

"The Information Store is an ideal complement to our own Article Clearinghouse operation," says Parke Malcolm, UMI senior vice president of business development. "This combination of strengths and services will provide information professionals with even more comprehensive access to journal articles, books, conference proceedings, brochures, reports, and more."

Plans call for The Information Store to maintain its corporate name and operating location in San Francisco. Information Store President Georgia Finnigan, who founded the company in 1978, will stay with the company.

"This combination of efforts allows The Information Store to grow in some ways that might not otherwise be possible," adds Finnigan. "We're really creating the world's premier document delivery service."

The Information Store provides document delivery services to companies around the world. The company provides access to information on demand, including annual reports, newspaper articles, SEC reports, legislative bills, patents, FTC documents, and periodical articles. …
