MAYBE it was the Mexican sun or the Turks & Caicos moon, but two major weddings of the past year took place there as couples exchanged vows in intimate weddings at tropical locales.

Actress LisaRaye McCoy said "I Do" to the Hon. Michael Misick, the chief minister [equivalent to the president] of the islands of Turks and Caicos after a year-long, whirlwind courtship and a fairy-tale wedding before approximately 300 guests. The bride wore a silk satin, ivory ball gown designed by Amsale, featuring Swarovski Crystals and beads encrusted on an embroidered bodice, illusion V-neckline and a 30-foot-long train. The groom surprised bride by flying in Ashford & Simpson to sing at the reception.

The couple honeymooned in Jerusalem, Bali and Dubai. After a whirlwind courtship, only three months after the couple's first date, the beaming groom proposed on bended knee in front of both their families in the garden of his island estate. He presented his intended with a brilliant-cut 10-carat marquise diamond ring with pink diamond accents from M-Henri Design.

The high-powered pair met initially at the Trumpet Awards in Atlanta and initially corresponded by e-mail, before their first date in Jamaica, where the bride was hosting an annual festival weekend. Her determined suitor flew to Jamaica from Turks and Caicos--a group of 40 islands between the Bahamas and Puerto Rico in the Caribbean to escort LisaRaye and her friends to dinner.
