Associated Banc-Corp of Green Bay, Wis., has hired Lisa B. Binder as its president and chief operating officer.

As the president, she succeeded Paul S. Beideman; the chief operating job is a newly created one. Mr. Beideman will remain the $21 billion-asset company's chief executive officer, a job he has had since joining it in 2003, and he has been named its chairman.

Ms. Binder was a group executive vice president and the director of retail banking for the Middle Atlantic and Midwest of Citizens Financial Group Inc., a Providence, R.I., unit of Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC.

Before that she had been a regional president at Mellon PSFS. Her 10 years with Mellon Financial Corp. overlapped Mr. Beideman's 14-year tenure there; he left the Pittsburgh company in 2003 as its Middle Atlantic chairman.

Anglo Irish Bank has hired Michael Goorvich as a senior vice president of commercial real estate lending in Chicago.

He will report to Paul Doyle, a senior vice president for the Dublin bank.

Mr. Goorvich was a senior vice president and managing director in the mortgage banking group for Capmark Finance Inc. He worked at the Horsham, Pa., company for eight years.

Before that he had worked at Baird & Warner Inc. and Great-West Life Assurance Co.

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Piper Jaffray Cos. has hired Stuart Duty as a co-head of its health care investment banking team -- again.

Mr. Duty, who will be based in New York, previously held that job for the Minneapolis company from 1999 to 2001. …
