It disturbed me when I read Trevor Johns' letter, Gay marriages are un-African, in your last issue. He concluded his letter by stating that what might come next is necrophilia, bestiality and other scary things.

To even compare homosexuality with these terrible acts scares me. We live in a society, may it be Africa, Europe or elsewhere, where religious traditions have formed us as human beings. In a time when we are struggling to erase racism, discrimination and sexism, we are changng according to our humanity.

Trevor Johns states that it is wrong to give homosexuals their rights in order to get diversity. As far as I can see, we are still able to live Christian (or Muslim, Jewish, etc) lives where homosexuality is accepted.

He says 77% of South Africa's population is Christian. It may be the case, but that doesn't mean they are stoning people according to the Old Testament or oppose all technical advancements. If you should proclaim your Christian beliefs, you should try to follow Jesus Christ's message--which is to love and care for each other. …
