With all the publicity in recent months about the 40th Annual ASIS Seminar and Exhibits in Las Vegas, you might have the impression that the seminar is the only event ASIS hosts. It is the biggest program of the year, but it is far fro the only program ASIS offers. Here is a brief look at what ASIS will be presenting in the next few months.

On October 24 to the 28, the Assets Protection Course I: Concepts and Methods will be offered in Las Colinas, Texas, which is in the Metropolitan Dallas area The APC I is for both those who have just entered the profession and security professionals who want to brush up on their basic skills. This program is designed to reinforce the fundamentals as well as present the latest in securit techniques and theories and is the first in a series of three programs.

Workplace violence is still an important topic for security professionals; proving this, the ASIS Standing Committee on Crime/Loss Prevention is sponsorin "Strategies to Prevent Workplace Violence" on October 31 and November 1 in Washington, D.C. The two-day workshop will provide an in-depth definition of workplace violence, give attendees tools to manage incidents of aggressive behavior, and provide an understanding of the legal ramifications posed by workplace violence incidents.
