This year's annual SLA conference in Denver was quite an event. SLA planners admit that the attendance and exhibitions at the conference "exceeded planners' expectations," while gathering SLA members from every chapter worldwide.

Even the weather cooperated, offering attendees a chance to roam around downtown during breaks and pockets of "free time" between sessions from June 3 to 6 under sunshine and blue skies (OK, the high winds that grounded some outgoing flights on Wednesday were totally unexpected). And the vastness of the Colorado Convention Center kept feet and pedometers running on overtime.

SLA's final figures totaled 5,047 attendees from 41 nations. That total included 813 SLA conference first-timers. The INFO-EXPO, which SLA billed as "the largest information and knowledge management exposition in North America," was chock-full of vendors, exhibitors, and special events (even gold-panning). The sold-out exhibit hall featured 275 companies and organizations, as well as 38 new exhibitors.
