UPDATE: Here's Ranking of 30 Most Popular Newspaper Sites for May

Article excerpt

The New York Times again topped other newspapers in Web traffic in May, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. It reports that nytimes.com had 12,755,000 unique visitors in May compared to 13,735,000 in April.

Meanwhile, washingtonpost.com, which placed third in terms of unique audience in May, gained online readers compared to April stats. The Wall Street Journal made its way back into the top five, knocking out the Orlando Sentinel (it dropped to #13).

Of the top 30 online newspapers, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution beat out the rest with the highest time spent per person, at 0:32:12.

Kansas.com, the online arm of The Wichita Eagle, made an appearance in the top 30 most likely due to the deadly tornado that wiped out the town of Greensburg.

The New York Post site jumped to #7 from #10. The Miami Herald made it to #26 in May after being off the list in April.

*Below is a revised list, which includes Philly.com. The original list did not include this site due to an oversight at Nielsen//NetRatings (which is owned by E&P's parent company, The Nielsen Co.)
